“You Don’t Know Me… But You Will.”

Amazing. America, reborn.

Happy birthday to my big sis, Charlene!

This is truly an historic night… people are dancing in the streets of DC. My son sent me a text message informing me of his amazement at the sight of people partying in front of the Whitehouse. Hell, there is a party going on outside my house on 13th St., NW! Car loads of people are cruising down the street with people shouting and chanting, horns blaring! White kids are dancing in the rain; celebrating the day the USA lived up to its own PR.

40 years ago, Washington burned in the wake of the murder of Dr. King, and 14th and U Streets, NW was the epicenter of the destruction. Tonight, that intersection is pulsing with a euphoric vibe as whites, blacks, latinos, aw hell, EVERYBODY is dancing in the middle of the intersection. Amazing.

There will surely be a lot of analysis of President-Elect Obama’s acceptance speech for it was epic. I was amazed at his remarkable restraint; he had that crowd in the palm of his hand and then let them go with a blessing.

Ain’t gonna give “Nuremburg” fodder to the remnants of the GOP.

Sarah Palin’s crew was terribly disrespectful to John McCain. The senator’s concession speech was gracious and patriotic… but you could hear the crickets in the evening air, (between the boos and hisses whenever the Senator referred to the President-elect) chirping over some really well-crafted  and nicely delivered lines by Senator McCain, pledging his support for the President-elect.

Congratulations to America, maybe we’ve finally grown up!

Amazing you said - “Sarah Palin’s Crew.” The whole GOP campaign was never really about McCain. They took a major risk bringing her into the picture, but that’s all they could do cause anyone of the other guys would never have stirred up the stew like she did. Unfortunately for the Repblicans, it was like an attractive but shallow date. Once they open their mouth, all of a sudden, they’re not as attractive..& everything sounds like Blah Blah Blah !!!!….. Oh Well……. Yeah for America !!! What’s really satisfying is that the WORLD seems pleased…Lots more to say but, that’s all for now..

The truly amazing events of November 2008 will long be etched in the minds of a great number of Americans (USA) and members of the world community. Like the rise of the Phoenix from the ashes the Black people of African extraction have risen from the slave house to the White House.
America reborn I agree, but that rebirth must include civility, courtesy, and a renewed sense of justice and fairness. America no longer seems like a nation that despised or even tolerated me because of my skin color. The Invisible Man is no longer invisible and it turns out that the dream denied was only the dream delayed. The youth of America have delivered an undeniable message to the Ultra-conservatives and demagogues of the so-called “right”. That is that you are wrong and your day is done.
As Southern Baptists and other evangelicals lament the election of a biracial black man, I wonder if they truly believe the Scriptures which say in essence that God raises leaders up and that promotion comes from the Lord. The boastful pride of the Right was rebuked by the Lord. He pulls one down and raises another. I seriously doubt that the Christians of the apostolic age sat around and planned on how to legislate Christian values. The Church has always had its greatest growth when persecution came and they were the minority. They rejoiced to suffer for the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. They did not sit around lamenting the rule of the Caesar and the wickedness of the liberals. They rendered to Caesar that which belonged to Caesar. They would not call Caesar ‘lord’ because they recognized they were pilgrims in this world system. They called Jesus Lord.
When I as a Bible Believing Christian cast my vote for President elect Obama I did so not because I agreed with him on gay marriage, abortion, or a liberal agenda rather I voted against the hypocrisy of the Conservatives and the “Christian right”. Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before the fall. A little humility gones a long way.

9 days later and I am still wowed by the reality of president-elect Obama.
