“You Don’t Know Me… But You Will.”

Mental Head Slap!

July 3rd, 2008 by Larry Bellinger Posted in Current Events, News, Politics

Actually, I literally slapped my forehead when I saw the photo accompanying this piece. I wondered what this chick was thinking… and then I saw her photo. Anyone in 2008 who would get that haircut AND go on TV may just be… nah. I won’t go there. Don’t get me wrong, I understand her sentiment but for cryin’ out! Didja ever consider your timing might just be a tad off?

Lady, a Black man, an African-American is the Democratic nominee for President of the United States! The Black National Anthem? In 2008? Hell, in 1968 it was still the Negro National Anthem.

My point is: Obama’s campaign needs to have states such as Colorado in play this November. If he can change the electoral map he can defuse the GOP’s general strategy of SCARE THE HELL OUT OF THE WHITE PEOPLE and they will vote against their own self-interest every time.  I am talking about the “hard working middle americans” “mom, pop and apple pie americans” etc. The ones in Ohio who voted for Bush because… well, just because!

The folks in Colorado will now have the image of a bunch of uncomfortable politicians wishing they were anywhere else on earth than in that gathering as Ms. Rene Marie warbled James Weldon Johnson’s Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing to the tune of the Star Spangled Banner.

Between the Left hollering because Obama has moved to the center on the issues the GOP will seek to bash him with in the fall and dumb Negroes pulling Stoopid-Ass stunts like this we are gonna end up on the morning of Jan 20 asking, “What the fuck happened?”

    Facepalm

Sir, today I introduce you to the facepalm. I think it fits what you are describing perfectly.

I can’t say whether I agree with what she did or not, but I don’t know that you’re interpretation of it is any more helpful…So as black people we’re all supposed to shed our own individuality and do a little song and dance assimilating our way into “white” society in order to assure a “black” man will be president? Yes, I am all for Obama’s presidency, but I can’t be for it when the terms are relinquishing black culture. Was this necessarily the “right” (I guess our states don’t really acknowledge any of the other cultures inside of the US) venue for her to express herself in this way, maybe not, but I can’t be mad at her for expressing a sentiment that we all need to be reminded up. These United States are just that, an amalgamation of many different states and people; as we (as a nation) try to lump all American’s together as the same, we forget that the basis of this country was in different people coming together for a common goal.

Well, of course that sentiment seems to have long since been forgotten; One must consider that the current direction of general American “culture” seems to be observing every second of the life of some “celebrity”. Wonder what *** will do next?! Did you hear what *** did?!.
